It's great conveying athmosphere and emotions, it implies that lights and shadows are a combination with hard and soft edges.  

* Lineart with a combination of soft and hard shadows and lighting, effects and finishes.

Painting: 
Made with visible brush strokes, it's great for a dramatic effect, very thought composition and lighting, brush strokes and textures visible and very deep rendered details.
